CLIMATE & ENVIRONMENT
We have the greatest potential to directly influence
our Scope 1 CO2e emissions, which represent 20% of
CO2e emissions, primarily from haulage runs using
our own vehicles.
Unlike many of our competitors, Frode Laursen
has the advantage of owning many of the vehicles we
use for transport and distribution, giving us a unique
opportunity to optimise both the equipment and the
performance of our drivers.
To take full advantage of this opportunity, we are
focusing on alternative fuels, investing in new equipment, promoting efficient driving styles, and collaborating with both customers and suppliers.
In 2024, we achieved a 17% reduction in our emissions compared to the previous year. This decrease
was primarily due to an increased use of alternative
fuels. In 2023, 26% of our trucks used alternative fuels,
which increased to one-third, or 39%, of our journeys
in 2024.
In addition, we are committed to maximising
vehicle fill rates, and in 2024, we invested in new
equipment that can transport more pallets. We plan
to continue these investments in 2025.
Case
One third of vehicles now
using alternative fuels
In 2024, 39% – or more than one third –
of Frode Laursen’s own vehicles ran on
alternative fuels. This equates to a 13%
increase from the previous year, when
the figure was 26%.
This progress is the result of strong
collaboration with our customers,
who share our ambition to reduce the
transport sector’s carbon footprint. Together, we have taken important steps
in promoting the use of alternative
fuels – especially HVO biodiesel, which
continues to account for the largest
share of our green mileage driven.
Since 2021, we have offered customers in Denmark and Sweden the
opportunity to be part of our Green
Fuel Quota Concept. This concept
allows customers to ensure that the
distribution of their goods by Frode
Laursen is documented as being
fuelled by HVO, which is produced
More than one third
of our own vehicles run
on alternative fuels
from, among other things, household,
abattoir and wood waste, and reduces
the carbon footprint by 81%.
Customers have been very receptive
to this idea, and in 2024, the share of
journeys fuelled by HVO rose by 13%
– from 17% to 30%.
At the same time, we switched
some of our runs fuelled by natural
gas to biogas, further contributing to
reduced CO2 emissions. However, due
to delivery issues with electric trucks
ordered, our electrification process did
not advance as fast as hoped in 2024.
Despite this we remain optimistic.
By maintaining a close dialogue and
collaboration with our customers, we
expect to advance our electrification
efforts in 2025 and further increase the
percentage of more sustainable fuels
used in our operations.
